The Keio University Faculty of Policy Management and the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies offer scholarships for exceptional students accepted through Admissions for Overseas Students (GIGA Program).
Keio University also offers several scholarships for international students. In addition, various organizations and foundations, including government and private entities, also offer financial aid to international students studying in Japan.

Scholarships Exclusively for GIGA Program International Students

Below please find brief outlines of three scholarships exclusively for GIGA Program International Students.

*MEXT: Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
The Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship has now become available for international students enrolling through Admission for Overseas Students (the GIGA Program) starting in September 2019. This will allow successful applicants who are exceptional to have their full ride covered. Please see below for details.
Amount awarded:
• Application Fee covered by Keio University
• Admission Fee covered by Keio University
• Academic Fees for one year (2019 Fall semester and 2020 Spring semester) covered by Keio University
• Monthly living cost (117,000JPY) covered by MEXT*
• Traveling cost covered by MEXT*

Up to four years (subject to annual review such as by requiring a GPA above 3.4)

Scholarships Provided by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO)
- Honors Scholarships for Privately Financed International Students
Amount awarded: JPY 48,000 per month
Duration: one year (students may apply every year)

Scholarships Provided by Keio University
- Keio University Scholarship for Undergraduate Students (second year or higher)
- Keio Emergency Scholarship for International Students
Amount awarded: JPY 150,000 per year, or JPY 450,000 per year to exceptional students
Duration: one year (students may apply every year)
Application Deadline: around mid-October
Amount awarded: within the limits of the relevant year’s Tuition Fee
Duration: one year

Scholarships Provided by Private Foundations and Local Governments
There are over 100 scholarships provided by private foundations and local governments available to international students who are or will be studying in Japan, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Some of them are open to all students, whereas others are targeted specifically for students who are from certain countries and regions, or studying particular fields.
